The Surgeon General has determined that lack of physical activity is detrimental to your HEALTH. 80% of all disease is life-style related, i.e. smoking, lack of exercise, poor nutritional habits, etc. - People who did not do physical exercise were three times more likely to be depressed than people who exercised on a regular basis.
- About 60% of adults report no physical activity at all in their leisure time.
- Among women 55-69, those who had high levels of physical activity were half as likely to develop diabetes melitus as were women with low levels of physical activity.
